Supervisor for Riverside County, District 1
Supervisor Elect Jose Medina served as Assemblymember for California’s 61st Assembly District from 2012 to 2022, representing Riverside, Moreno Valley, Perris, and Mead Valley. As chair of the Assembly Committee on Higher Education, he championed reforms in education, healthcare, housing, and social justice.
Before his legislative career, Medina spent over 35 years as an educator, including serving as a trustee for the Jurupa Unified School District and Riverside Community College District. He authored AB 101, making California the first state to mandate Ethnic Studies for high school graduation, and secured over $200 million for UC Riverside, along with $30 million for community projects such as the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art, Culture and Industry.
As Supervisor Elect for Riverside County’s District 1, Medina is dedicated to strengthening local infrastructure, expanding access to essential services, and promoting economic development to enhance residents’ quality of life.
