PROGRAM MLS
For over 20 years, Georgina Avilez has excelled in consumer communications, specializing in Hispanic and general market brands. Her expertise spans community relations, program and event management plus media engagement. Georgina seamlessly integrates her personal and professional life, using her own story and experiences to inspire others toward self-love and community wellness.
As the Program Director for Southern California at Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Georgina leads her team in conceptualizing and implementing community-based projects. She has successfully launched underage drinking prevention programs such as Power of Community, Power of Parents, and Power of Youth. In addition, Georgina oversees community engagement and fundraising events, including the Walk Like MADD 5K, Teen Youth Summit, Law Enforcement Recognition Awards, and Candlelight Vigils in six counties. Her skills in public relations and event management have earned her consecutive promotions.
In 2024, Georgina was appointed to the Executive Board of the Latino Employee Resource Group, “Creating Our Path Adelante” (COPA). This group is dedicated to empowering staff to work more collaboratively with communities both internally and externally at MADD. They engage with current and new COPA members, sharing the diverse cultural aspects of Hispanic and Latino members within MADD, to better serve communities in need of support in a proactive manner that resonates with MADD’s mission.
Before joining MADD, Georgina held executive roles at RL Public Relations and Vesper PR, where she managed corporate communications and marketing initiatives for clients like Sears, Got Milk?, Nike, Johnnie Walker, Hennessy, East Los Angeles Parade, and more.
Georgina began her career in the entertainment industry with Latin Style Magazine, overseeing content and graphic layouts during the “Latin Explosion.” She later worked as a publicist for a public relations firm, collaborating with top Latin music artists such as Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Ricky Martin, and Marc Anthony. Additionally, she was a weekly blogger for DallasVida.com, covering entertainment news, movie premieres, reviews, and more.
Georgina also served as the showroom manager for a high-end accessory designer, whose products featured on network television shows, red carpet events, and global TV shopping platforms. Her relentless work ethic, compassion, and commitment to the community are evident in her volunteer work with organizations like Chips for Kids, Chingona Community, Suicide Prevention, Susan G. Komen, Relay for Life, and the Alzheimer’s Association.
After receiving acclaim for her personal essay on tragedy and self-love, Georgina is now working on her first novel, “A Letter to Mr. Wonderful,” and a children’s book, “Smiling for Santa.”
